Limestone Mountain Lookout
The run
Trail report
This out-and-back trail takes you high above the tree line to the Limestone Mountain Fire Lookout. The trail is mostly deactivated logging road that turns into steep, rocky switchbacks near the top.
The loose shale on the final ascent requires steady momentum and good all-terrain tires. The winds at the summit can be fierce, but the view of the vast wilderness is unmatched.
Remember to respect the privacy of the fire watch personnel stationed at the top during the summer months.
