The run

Trail report

Indian Graves is the unofficial backyard of Calgary's 4x4 scene: a network of Crown-land loops in the foothills west of Cochrane that packs a surprising amount of terrain into a half-day run.

Expect steep, loose hill climbs, spring mud holes that swallow stock tires, and wide-open ridgetop sections with the front ranges laid out in front of you.

It's busy on weekends, so go early, keep your line on established tracks, and don't cut new paths through the meadows — this area has lost ground to poor driving before.
