About this campsite
The Porcupine Hills Public Land Use Zone encompasses a prominent landform rising abruptly from the rolling prairie grasslands west of Claresholm and Stavely. This unique ecosystem transitions from limber pine ridges and Douglas fir forests down to grassy foothills.
Overland campers utilize designated camping nodes situated along Skyline Road and secondary logging trails. Motorized travel is strictly limited to trails matching vehicle width restrictions (up to 98 inches wide). It offers ideal terrain for dual-sport motorcycles, trucks, and rooftop tent rigs.
Camping requires the Alberta Public Land Camping Pass. The area is heavily grazed by cattle under forestry lease allotments during summer, requiring campers to keep gates closed and respect grazing livestock.

Beautiful ridge camping with incredible sunrise views over the prairies. Easy access from Highway 2, but feels miles away from civilization.
