Located just 40 km northwest of Cochrane along the Forestry Trunk Road (Highway 40) and TransAlta Road, the Waiparous Creek area within Ghost PLUZ is a premier destination for 4x4 enthusiasts and backcountry overlanders. It borders the Rocky Mountain Forest Reserve across 1,500 square kilometers of foothills terrain.
Campers can disperse camp along designated public land nodes and spur trails. The region offers access to over 600 km of designated off-highway vehicle (OHV) trails, singletrack, and technical rock-crawling routes along Waiparous Creek and the Ghost River drainage.
An Alberta Public Land Camping Pass is strictly required for all campers 18+. Campers must practice Leave No Trace principles, pack out all garbage, and adhere to seasonal motorized closures. No official services or hookups are provided.
